Report written by Rachel Henry
Once upon a time on a beautiful sunny evening at the end of May a group of friends gathered, ready to do some running and a little good. After a quick round of shark attack, we heard about everyone's favourite meal they could eat every day , potentially three times a day for the rest of their lives. The answers ranged from Kellogg's Special K from the twins...(that explains a lot), through to Lucy's good ol' fish and chips.
We headed off on a short run to the Hervey Road Sports Field where we were greeted by the wonderful Annie and Richard, mother and son dream team who've been working hard to create a slice of paradise on a strip of land by the field. Our task for the evening was mixing compost and gravel to tip into the ready dug holes to plant the lavendar on their own little hills. 63 of them no less, I believe. After an excellent Blue Peter-esque demonstration from Richard we set to work and between all the muscles and efficient tasking thanks to our members like Marta, we got the job done. A few of us started weeding around the trees and digging over the ground to allow them all the goodness available to thrive. We'll be back again in June for another session so look forward to helping out some more.
Then it was back to base for some burpees, jumping squats and the best of Sting and off home for some dinner and sleep.
Well done team - until next time!
