2 GoodGymers helped out at the annual Charlton Central Residents' Association local community day event. This event is run by volunteers from the community. In the morning there is litter picking and greening with a free lunch. In the afternoon there’s a jumble trail, craft stalls, cream teas and other refreshments.

Myself and Julian helped out with the afternoon shift (2 - 5pm) which included a spot of kitchen duty with Jacqui and Jane, which including preparing giant sized cream teas amongst all the other usual type of refreshments. Julian on the other hand kept Brenda happy by attending the CCRA raffle stall (a popular feature of most CCRA events).

We also got a chance to wander around all the other stalls and see what things people were selling or giving away. It was great that so many neighbours and families joined in.

By 5pm we had packed up all of the stalls and helped tidy up the hall. Luckily the weather stayed dry and all in all it was a good afternoon’s work volunteering! Hopefully we’ll be back the same time next year!
