All The Lonely People

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Liverpool.

Doing these Missions on a regular basis and the theme which comes out loud and clear from them all is the fact that there are so many lonely, vulnerable elderly people living in Liverpool (and I am sure around the rest of the UK). How has it got to the stage where we don't look after each other and expect the council to do it all?

So it was that I went to P's house. He has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has trouble walking any distance. He has no family or friends. He was a lovely chap and it seemed he was just desperate for some company and that is what I gave him. We sat and talked for nearly an hour and then I went and bought him some ready meals, chips and some cakes. He was "made up" as they say here in Liverpool and it brightened up his day that he has spoken to a human being and that he had cake to have with his tea. Such a small thing for me to do and yet it made such a difference. So proud to be a member of Good Gym.
