A Tale of Two Trollies...

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.

Mrs M had a trolley...music to my ears. So one minute after calling her to get her list I was knocking on her door and armed with a somewhat eclectic list, money and the trolley, I walked down the hill to Tesco.

Amazingly no queue and hardly anyone in the shop. Mrs M knew her Tesco well, so whilst I wasn't able to strictly follow the one way arrows on the floor (I decided it was easier to park both her trolley and the shop basket/trolley behind a pillar), I managed to collect everything she wanted, and one overflowing trolley later I was queuing to pay.

At this point I realised I'd failed basic level packing planning, because the heavy goods were all at the bottom of trolley 1, which meant (as the checkout lady kindly pointed out when she scanned the final item...the bag of potatoes), trolley 2 was packed somewhat upside down - I certainly didn't want to return to Mrs M with flattened tomatoes, squashed bananas or a misshapen loaf so put the heavier items in my backpack...

A short walk back up the hill to Mrs M's to deliver her goods where we then had a really interesting chat about the multitude of challenges she and her husband were having to deal with as a result of lockdown, and how appreciative she was of the help she was getting.

As with many of these shopping missions over the past few weeks, you get a real dose of perspective when having these conversations with the Mrs M's of this world and can only admire the strength of mind they have to persevere with it all each day and remain upbeat. Mrs M - I can only hope the food from today's shop brings a little bit of well deserved sunshine to your day.

What a lovely report, Nick, and I'm sure you will learn the packing logistics of shopping in good time!
