On a beautifully sunny February afternoon, four of us headed to the 'maze' at Escrick Sidings.

This once very picturesque spot has been neglected and had become overgrown with brambles and all sorts of spiky nasties.

When we got there we could even walk down the steps without getting attacked, but we hacked, lopped and sheared our way through!

Leanne wanted to tidy up the big planter which was the centrepiece, whilst Mitch got rid of as mich bramble as possible and Nikki cleared the steps leading up to the popular seating area, as well as clearing many beer cans.

I've found a drainage channel!

The more we cleared, the more we could see how lovely the area used to be. A circular stone wall emerged and the view across the fields in the evening sun was gorgeous!

Next step, digging the new maze layout and gravelling it!
