Please note that this community mission has been cancelled.

We have been asked to help the charity Talbot Village Trust as part of an initiative to clear and restore woodland on the estate.

Talbot Village Trust is a land-based charity, making grants of around £1 million each year to charities in East Dorset and BCP. The estate sits on the boundary between Poole and Bournemouth and includes some very special ecologies, including that of the woodland surrounding the Talbot conservation village: https://talbotvillagetrust.org/our-estate/green-spaces/

The woodland is less than 200 years old, and still establishing. Volunteering sessions aim to help this process, removing some of the light-choking and invasive species to allow our oak trees and ground cover to flourish. The work will also create some openings which we intend to use for wellbeing activities later next year: inviting providers of mindfulness, forest bathing, creative writing etc to run workshops for the public to promote wellbeing.

The sessions will be held most weekends in January and February. Please see the listings if you would like to attend more than this date.

The volunteering site is very close to the Slades Park Pavilion, which offers shelter, toilets and a café, adjacent to free parking on Ensbury Avenue (BH10 4HG).
