24 Hackney GoodGymers ran 5.5k to Wilton Estate community garden to Make Pom Poms, dig stuff up, plant bulbs, carry stinky compost and clean the gardening tools.

We choose the right day of the week for this one!! After Monday's Monsoon we were treated to a virtually Tropical Tuesday!

Amazing to have so many runners along! Awesome work to Patrick for joining us on his first outing and great to see so many new joiners completing their 2nd, 3rd and 4th runs! Great beginnings to a consistent positive habit.

We set off to our favourite warm up area behind the Town Hall and got our muscles activated, mobile and warm with a range of animal like dynamic stretches and done strength developing lower body exercises! Rounding off the warm up with a series of accelerations with some Super speedy Fast Feet.

We headed up the road to the estate to meet Debbie who set us up with a range of indoor and outdoor tasks. We had the diggers smashing the ground turning over soil and clearing weeds, the tool cleaners making all the tools nice and sparkly and the Pom Pom makers weaving the web of magic to produce some of the finest Pom Pom's Hackney has seen!!

With 45 minutes of action we got a lot done! Exceeding expectations we even had the opportunity to do a few extra jobs by clearing the paths of weeds and carrying 45 bin bags filled with compost out of the jungle garden at the back. The Pom Pom makers were hard at work with probably the most intense concentration ever seen at a Goodgym task! Many different tactics and techniques were being employed from 2 tone design to tiny tiny Pom Poms and huge Pom Pons with perfect hair cuts.

With a sprint finish we managed to create 10 super special Pom Poms which will get hung on the Estate trees for a magical Yarn Bomb display.

With 45 minutes of varied and excellent work it was time to go, but to warm up the Estate pavements we ran the Wilton 425! Everyone smashed out a monster effort lap all the way around the Estate to feed their legs some speed!

After the big exertion we ran nice and steady back to base taking in a few Hackney landmarks on the way!

A few static stretches to round off a fun and productive evening before we headed off into the night for a very well earned refuel!

Catch everyone next week Tuesday when to get stuck in at ** Abney Park Cemetery** we need you so sign up here and come along!!

Smooth Weaving

Joel
