Tooting Community Fun Day
The project unites the whole community in a day of enjoyment and celebration. It features rides, stalls, sports, crafts, entertainers and multicultural food. It encourages friendship and trust among diverse groups. It attracts large crowds, about 1500. It is coordinated by the Balham and Tooting Community Association (BATCA), in partnership with local Muslim schools and a black majority church. Local leaders, including the MP and Mayor of Wandsworth attend and give active support. Funds raised go to St George's Hospital.

Balham and Tooting Community Association have asked for help closing down their annual community fun day. This a project mainly run by the Al Risalah Education Trust and St. Augustine's Church in Broadwater Road. It aims to enable people to work collectively, support groups to promote themselves, listen and respond to local issues and is a collaboration of all faiths in Balham and Tooting. The Fun Day will be raising money for St. George's Children's Ward and normally gets 1 - 2,000 people throughout the day and have circa 96 stalls to take down.

This is a big task requiring strength and stamina. It's hard to find enough volunteers able to carry out this task, so support from Goodgym would be invaluable.

Your point of contact on the day will be Sue McKinney. If you ask for her when you get there she will direct you.

** The best place to meet is by the gates of the car park adjacent to St. Augustine's Church and the event is on Broadwater Road, Tooting**
