After a train diversion and a quick run, I made it to the start point with moments to spare, to be greeted by some friendly faces in red t-shirts!

What a wonderful but hot evening to be doing good in Bromley, we started with a quick recap of the latest goings on:

  • Tim was out doing missions at the weekend, measuring curtains for an isolated elderly person who otherwise wouldn't have been able to get this task done.
  • It was also Darryl's 50TH GOOD DEED!! Well done, all the cheers to you!

Quick warm up (as we were already pretty warm) before heading off to Cator Park. We set off at a nice steady pace but we soon arrived at Cator Park and spotted the area we'd be working in.

There were a couple of jobs that we all got stuck into and swapped around.

  • Weeding the flowerbed which turned out to be a really satisfying task with big weeds to be removed. You could see the difference after we'd finished
  • Fetching water with buckets from the stream and watering the trees in the orchard
  • Removing a kite from a tree that had been there for 2 years!! I don't have any photo evidence of this but it did happen, I promise!

It was time for us to be heading back and starting our fitness session but we all agreed that we should complete the task (I hadn't even had chance to say what my fitness session was - I'll save it for next time...!!) and the last task to complete was piling up the trimmings from the bushes that'd been cut back.

Group photo taken and we made our way back to the start point.

Don't forget the community mission this weekend at Alexandra Park and Beckenham half marathon is coming up in September (15th)!
