Broad Street Place Community Garden
The Broad Street Place (BSP) Community Garden project was set up in 2021 to improve a neglected public space and garden in Bath City Centre. The project seeks to improve the space for users, tackle anti-social behaviour and enhance the area. Bath & North East Somerset Council is working with local businesses such as YMCA and the Osteopathy and Pilates Centre to improve the space. Over time, we hope that more local residents, businesses and community organisations will get involved in the project and make this a more pleasant place to spend time. The key targeted outcomes of the project are: • Community linkages – deliver a cohesive scheme across public and privately owned/managed land within BSP and support local stakeholders to use the space more and contribute to its upkeep through community volunteering • Improve the biodiversity of BSP – through provision of additional planting and bird/bat/insect houses • Increase footfall and dwell time for a variety of users – through provision of new street furniture, activities to support ‘place identity’ (such as signage and community art) and a improvements to the quality of the space including making the space more playful and child friendly • Improve the safety of BSP – by removing existing trip hazards, increasing use and natural surveillance • Improve the accessibility of BSP – by providing step-free access to the space from Broad Street and investigating opportunities to improve lighting Phase 1 of the improvements to the space were delivered in March 2022 and Phase 2 is planned for 2023. In the meantime, it would be great if runners could help with litter picking and gardening periodically. We hope that this will encourage others to take pride in this space and consider contributing some of their time too! All cleaning and gardening kit will be provided.

Please note that this group run has been cancelled.

We will jog from the Bath Sports and leisure centre on North Parade to the Broad Street place community garden to help tidy up the garden by pruning and cutting back.

All tools will be provided. You are welcome to bring along your own gloves.

We will jog at an easy pace

Meet in the foyer of the leisure centre. Look out for GoodGym members with red t-shirts. There's space to change and leave bags and toilets. We're not planning to do anything purposefully dangerous, but GoodGym takes no responsibility for your safety during group runs, you participate at your own risk. Participants accept full responsibility for items stored at Bath Sports and Leisure Centre, and Bath Sports and Leisure Centre and GoodGym will not be held liable for any losses or damages.
