Parkwood Springs is an amazing natural 'wild' space close to the centre of the city of Sheffield. There is woodland and heath, open parkland, and a range of natural habitats where wild lupins bloom, kestrels hover, and deer have been seen again. There are spectacular views over the city centre, the suburbs and the distant moors of the Peak District.

Please note that this community mission has been cancelled.

Parkwood Forest Garden is a beautiful calm space and a productive permaculture project. It is a young forest garden developed by Sheffield City Council in association with volunteers. The Forest Garden is a productive managed woodland, which produces food for both people and wildlife. We have been volunteering regularly at this great location since Feb 2019, our maintenance activities generally include: weeding, mulching and pruning.

Meet at Parkwood Springs Forest Garden car park (09.55am) (opposite flats 104-138), Shirecliffe Road, S5 8XB and walk over to the garden for 10.00am. Please note: There is no GG taskforce member leading this event - Lovely Louise Friends of Parkwood Springs Volunteer leader will be meeting GG volunteers in the carpark.

Friends of Parkwood Springs are following council COVID guidance. All tools and appropriate training are provided, tool cleaning materials provided, activities will be planned to avoid sharing tools and ensure social distancing.
Friends of Parkwood Springs have now informed GG there is no limit to sign ups - the more the merrier :)

Please bring you own gloves, wear sturdy shoes and warm clothes if the weather is a bit grey, as well as your packed lunch and come and muck in!

How are you getting there?

Due to the frosty ground conditions Friends of Parkwood Springs have cancelled the gardening session.

However, there is a conservation session next Saturday 17/12.
