Greenwich Winter Night Shelter (GWNS) is a local charity which provides warmth, emergency accommodation and support for the homeless in Greenwich during the winter months. The charity was first established in 2012 by a group of churches as a practical response to the increasing challenge of homelessness and, until now, has operated a rotating-venue night shelter for 15 homeless people in the borough. Now they are setting up a static shelter with single room accommodation.
There will be 9 single rooms, including a women’s only wing with separate bathroom facilities and they will also be launching a day centre from the venue.
They need some help with preparing the rooms for their guests so get ready for some painting to work off those Christmas dinner pounds!
