Hi everyone and welcome to GoodGym Greenwich!

We're a friendly and social group who combine running with volunteering in the local community. We meet every Wednesday to get active and do a physical task for charities and community organisations in the area.

The Task

This week we're getting into the festive spirit with a paper chain-making project for young people in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) units. 🎄

The paper chain project started in 2023, inspired by two CAMHS-experienced volunteer elves, and it proved so popular that they're bringing it back for another year.

We'll take up residence in the Blackheath Newbridge Social Club, where we'll cut wrapping paper into paper chain-sized rectangles that will eventually be joined together by young people in the CAMHS units. We'll also be adding a cheesy cracker joke to the inside of each chain — so expect plenty of groan-worthy gags along the way! 🤭

Once we've made our links, they'll be sent to the CAMHS team, who will distribute them to their units in time for Christmas decorating.

The paper chains are designed to represent connection and remind young people in CAMHS units that they're still connected to the outside world and haven't been forgotten. Each chain is a little team effort between people in the community and the young people who will finish them.

No crafting experience needed — if you have some just bring a pair of scissors, a ruler and your festive spirit 🎅. We'll provide the wrapping paper and cracker jokes!

The Run

The run will be 2.5km. Everyone is welcome at any pace - we generally say if you can run for 15-20minutes solidly you will be fine on one of our runs.

Where & When

This week we'll meet at 6.45pm for a 7pm start at the Royal Naval College on College Way between the Queen Mary and Queen Anne buildings. The what three words location is palm.latter.souk. Look out for the red Tshirts and give Rachel a call on 07952192005 if you can't find us! We should be all wrapped up by 8.30pm.

If you'd like to meet us at the task just let us know in the comments. The address is Blackheath Newbridge Social Club, 22 Charlton Rd, London SE3 7HG and we should be there by 7.20pm until 8pm.

What To Bring

If you have some just bring a pair of scissors, a ruler and your festive spirit 🎅. We'll provide the wrapping paper and cracker jokes!

See you then!
