Kingswood Art - Launch Festival [Sunday 9th April]

After many years closed, Kingswood House is finally reopening as Kingswood Arts, a brand new community arts centre and creative hub, designed to support its local community through creativity.

We have helped the Kingswood Arts team over the last couple of months as we moved furniture, cleaned windows and prepped the grounds, so this is a celebration for us too!

Please join the Kingswood Arts team and local residents on Sunday 9th April as they will be launching their new social history project alongside the Friends of Kingswood House and the Social Change Agency. This will be a deep dive into local history, unveiling the secrets of Kingswood’s fascinating history.

There will be free tours at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00!

The tour will inform you about the house and its occupants from 1811-1950, but they are also very keen to invite any local people who have stories from the Kingswood Estate over the last 70 years since the building was taken over by Southwark Council. If you or someone you know was married there, attended wakes, birthdays or christenings or if you used the building as a library or youth centre, we would love to hear from you and see any photos or videos of those events!

Throughout the rest of 2023, Kingswood Arts will be building a historic exhibition for the house which will include stories from 1811 to present day!
