Despite the last minute change in task this evening, we were pleased not only to visit a brand new task this evening, but also to welcome two new runners to the Tower Hamlets family, Amarni & Becky! We nearly would have had actor and comedian, James Nesbitt, joining us, as we spotted him in the hotel reception. We would have asked him directly, but the general consensus from his quick glance at the group was one of, "I would love to join your fantastic group, doing good and getting fit this evening, but alas I don't have my running gear"...or roughly along those lines. After a short 1-mile run, we greeted our task owner at the Victoria Park Baptist Church, who in turn acquainted us with 20 bags of peat to fill two new raised beds. Whilst 10 of us set about filling the boxes, David and Keri were tasked with moving a heavy chair inside from one location to the basement. Although it was a short task, it was certainly worthwhile as ordinarily, only two people from the church would have had to do all the lifting. In around 10 minutes, the tasks were complete. Thank yous and farewells were succeeded by a short warm-up, then we moved on to our fitness task of 1 lap around the Mile End Parkrun course. Hopefully it was a valuable training exercise for those who already take part and especially for those looking to take part in the future! Thanks for coming again tonight and look forward to the Hallowe'en special next week!
