In Sheffield's fair city, where the weeds are not pretty.....

23 GoodGymers turned out to launch Goodgym Sheffield. Our first ever group run took us to Carfield primary School for some landscaping and hill climbing fun. We met at the beautiful Copthorne hotel, had a quick brief and head count, then were away....

A steady paced run out to the task was a great way to warm up our muscles. There were lots of young kids dressed up for Halloween. They were excellent at giving us a cheer as we passed them, bless. We were quite grateful going up that last hill too.

We met Danny, the caretaker, who issued our tools and showed us where we needed to dig and where to put the weeds.

Due to the number and caliber of Goodgymers in the group, we split in to a gardening party and a fitness party. Each group took it in turns to attack the monstrous weeds whilst the other made great use of the hill which the school was built on. Each team had 15 mins each to complete their section of the garden. What our team of superstars achieved in that amount of time was amazing. The garden was soon a landscaped paradise.

In 30 minutes the task was complete and a thankful school mum came along to thank our team. This was a personal highlight for me as it just showed the impact we can have. Just brilliant.

After all that excitement we jogged home and stretched those muscle fibres and headed to the hotel for some bonding and DBS checking.
