The Friends of Windmill Gardens (FoWG) were formed in 2003 with three aims: * to get the Grade II listed Brixton Windmill restored and opened for public visits – in 2002 it had been put on English Heritage's buildings at risk register; * to make Windmill Gardens park a more welcoming space for local people; * to have a new education centre at the windmill. Windmill Gardens gained a Green Flag Community Award in 2015 and we have just been judged again so our fingers are crossed that we will retain the award for the next two years.

Windmill Gardens is a heavily used park and keeping it looking good is an important part of the work of the Friends of Windmill Gardens charity.

This year's season of open weekends at Brixton Windmill starts in March and our first free community event in the park takes place at Easter so we want the park to be looking its best!

Today's task is to support the March gardening workshop to prepare the park for spring visitors. We provide tools, new latex gloves and gardening gloves. Experienced FoWG gardeners will lead on all tasks. Please wear suitable footware for gardening tasks.

We have various tasks to complete including tidying the entrance to the recently refurbished children's playground, plant a plum tree, weed the wild flower area, plant vegetables and tidy up all the paths and litter pick all grass areas.

What are you waiting for? It's a great way to spend a Saturday early afternoon.

There may not be a Task Force member resent but you will be well looked after by Jean and her fantastic team.
