It was an unfrogettable night in Hounslow last night as an 18-strong team of runners visited a local school to help tidy up their outside area, did a beautiful planting job and made a new home for an amphibian family.

First we kicked off the night by cheering Will who raced the London Marathon in sweltering heat on Sunday. A true feat of endurance - way to go Will.

We also said a big well done to Beth with cake for having very quietly hit the big 100 good deeds last week, and we also talked about the long training run happening at the end of May. This is a great chance to run 20k from Battersea to Richmond in groups taking various paces, and usually ends with something nice to eat.

We also discussed #finishformatt after the sad news from Sunday - if you want to run the 3.71 miles and donate to this great cause then here is the link.

Hop to it

After finding a nice sunny spot for our warm up, we got our muscles firing, and then did a quick survey to find out everybody's preferred pre-run snack. Bananas (many), peanut butter, KFC (really), and avocado all made the list - why not give them a try?

It was a very short run to our task at William Hogarth School last night, so we arrived with plenty of light left by which to do our jobs. There were loads of plants that needed a new home and so we got stuck in straight away digging holes, moving grasses and generally beautifying the school playground. In the course of the digging we came across a family of frogs, which thanks to all the hard work, enjoyed a lovely new home makeover.

Job done, we headed back to Turnham Green for a nice long fitness session which began with a knockout knee fencing tournament which saw a battle royale between Adam and Luis. It was too tight to declare an ultimate winner, so both teams of supporters were rewarded with a set of burpees and squat jacks.

We then worked on our ABCs - agility, balance and coordination - skills which help us become better, more efficient runners. After that came the core and sprint drills. This is a really tough workout which focuses on improving speed and strengthening core muscles which we need to do in order to keep our form strong when we're feeling tired on runs. All that was left then was an epic relay, with loads of lovely support for everybody. Great work, gang.

Next week we're back to the school to do a huge painting job. It's a biggie, so we'll need all hands on deck. Until then, have a great week of running and doing good!
