With buds appearing on shrubs, and bulbs beginning to poke their heads above the ground, it was time to clear weeds and generally tidy a stretch of wide border at Alexandra Recreation Ground – ready for the bloom of spring colours. Laura and Linda did wonders with forking out unwanted growth and adding mulch, while Tony focused on careful pruning. We finished by joining other volunteers from the Friends of the Park in a quick litter picking session. All in all a marvellously good use of time on a quiet February Sunday!
