12 Westminster GoodGymers ran 5k the oldest youth club in the world to lift, shift and sort out a storage cupboard and clean all the gym equipment!

On a mild evening in London Town we welcomed 5 GoodGym first timers to the party! *Ilaria, Hannah, Hannah, Jessica and Lianne * put in brilliant performances on their first running spin, hope to see you all again next week!

Setting off through the West End foot traffic we got our running weave on as we danced our at South through an almost enchanted St James's Park. Finding our way to St Andrew's youth club. Meeting Adrian we were amazed by the vibrancy of the club, about a hundred young people doing a wide variety of projects and activities brought the old building to life! We headed into the basement where we got straight to work first emptying out an out of control storage cupboard. Then sorting out the clothes to go tho a charity shop, untangling the longest cables known to man, gym kit, rubbish, different sized chairs and a Boom box!! Once everything was out and sorted with the floor of the cupboard seen for the first time in years we strategically Tetris style re ordered the kit so everything was accessible and bounced on to the second half of the task.

We loads of cleaning supplies we got on down to some serious gym equipment cleaning! We waged gorilla warfare of grim really focusing of making the kit look and work good!

With 40 minutes of super productive volunteering in the bag we had time for a 7 minutes Circuit Blast!! Dominating a hectic series of static and plyometric leg strength developing exercises in quick succession we could really feel the burn! Finishing off our time with Core Super Set of ab planks and dorsal raises rounded off a great visit to the Worlds Oldest Youth Club.

We took a slight detour on the 2.5k run back to our New Balance base we smashed out a dominant display up the Green Park Race way throwing in some high powered changes of pace and gradual acceleration!! A short warm down along Old Bond Street, a range of static stretches and a big bear hug finished off a great session!

Hope to see you all along next week we will cross the Camden boarder and help a homeless shelter make up the beds for the evenings visitors. Would love to have you along for the run! Please sign up here
