Date and time
12:00 - 18:00To celebrate Beat the Street Barnsley coming to an end and to thank everybody for taking part, Barnsley Council would like to invite us to the Beat the Street Play Day taking place at Locke Park on Wednesday 4 August, 12pm to 6pm.
With plenty of open space, tennis courts, multi-use games area, table tennis table and a children's play area there is plenty to do and they will be there with partners delivering activities throughout the day.
• Reds in the Community will be delivering a variety of multi sports activities and taster sessions from a selection of their programmes. Alongside this they will be running a competition to win prizes such as ticket vouchers and footballs.
• Tokyo Challenges – Olympians Emily Freeman (200m UK Champion and Olympic Finalist) and Jenny Meadows (800m UK Champion, World and European Medallist) from Totally Runable will host a challenge arena, for children to try different athletics-themed challenges and try to beat their Personal Best. Can you get close to a real-life Olympic record?
• Try a taster of ‘Get, set, go! Summer’ at Wentworth Castle Gardens. Challenge yourself to ‘beat your best’ or ‘work it out’ together by getting active and having fun with family and friends.
• Inspired by Cannon Hall’s Summer Sculpture Exhibition “Invasive Species” join Barnsley Museums to make your own pom pom dandelion to take home or plant in the park!
Why not bring a picnic or visit the café for food and drink while you are there?
Wear your GoodGym t-shirts if you can!
