Another beautiful morning for volunteering at Milton Country parkrun ☀️
We have really lucked out with the weather at Milton recently, and being set in the country park, it certainly boosts the mood. It also meant a lot less mud for everyone!
I was marshalling today, and alongside cheering, had the important role of ensuring everyone turned right towards the finish funnel on the 3rd lap.
Congratulations to all 271 runners and walkers, especially those reaching PBs and milestones (there were lots!). Extra kudos to the person running in a boot on crutches and absolutely flying round!
We'll be back for more next month 🙌

It wasn't quite the workout we had planned, but cycling into a headwind certainly got the heart rate up!
Wind stopped play for our group run, so we switched to two wheels to get our donations to a Cambridge City Foodbank donation point. It was hard going, figh-tin against the wind, and we were blown about a bit, but we valiantly persisted 💪
We donated a range of food and household items most needed by the foodbank to support members of our community.
Feeling rather windswept, we flew into town for a legendary gelato - becoming a regular feature at the end of a task 🍦
Credit to Caroline for the superb puns

Two GoodGymers spent a lovely morning helping Abbey People with their Seeds of Hope project.
This was Sunethra's first mission with GoodGym and the sun came out to welcome her.
We sowed lots of wildflower seeds to bring some more colour to this area. We also reduced the weeds along the earth banks we had built up on a previous mission. This was to give the wildflowers more of a chance to grow.
The task was very uplifting as we felt able to make a difference.

Cambridge Half 2026
We had a blast supporting the Cambridge Half on Sunday!
Welcome to Tatiana who joined for her first GoodGym task 💪
It is our first year with GoodGym representation both on the course and behind the scenes. Kate, Sadiya and Catherine were in the bag storage tent, helping manage runner's bags and Tatiana was managing runners in the starting pens before switching to handing out medals and tote bags at the finish line. From start to finish, we had logistics covered.
It's hard to describe exactly what 15,000 bags in a marquee looks like, but the picture gives a good idea. We played a game of Where's Wally (Catherine) in amongst the sea of backpacks. It was an early start and surprisingly stressful at times, requiring military precision to stack bags and eagle eyes to spot race numbers at a distance. Teamwork really was key and the highlight of the morning was meeting like-minded volunteers and sharing tales of races gone by (followed closely by the free gelato 🍦) .
As always with Cambridge Half, the atmosphere was amazing and it was a privilege to hear runners motivations for taking part and their experiences of the race. Despite having only 50m of elevation overall, there were a lot of comments about the incline out to Granchester; a hill by Cambridge standards.
All in all, a great day and here's to 2027!

Cambridge Half 2026 🙌
Huge congratulations to Caroline, Harriet, and Dani who took on the 13 mile course through the beautiful streets of Cambridge. Famous for its flat course, historic sites and incredible supporters, it did not disappoint!
We loved welcoming Dani from GoodGym Luton👋 and enjoyed a pre-race chat (and photo shoot) with Caroline to calm the nerves before they both headed off to smash their runs! Harriet was running with her daughter and I managed to catch them on their way for a well deserved drink! Amazing work all 🙌
It was Caroline's first Cambridge half: "The crowd absolutely made it. I was amazed at the number of people that turned out and how supportive they all were. It was especially lovely to hear your name, and the interactions with spectators really helped, getting high-fives, and 'boosts' and 'power-ups' from cardboard signs. It was also very cool to represent GG by wearing my bright red t-shirt 😎"
Extra kudos to Caroline who struggled to train due to injuries and ran a sub-2h PB - an incredible achievement 🥳
We're proud to have you represent GoodGym, and well done again on all of your achievements this weekend. 🫶 Now you rest!

This morning, we headed to Coldham's Common parkrun to support their runners and walkers 🙌
Caroline was assigned to the marshal post on the hill and had a great time cheering on all the participants tackling one of Cambridge's few elevation changes. Meanwhile, Catherine very impressively took on a pacer role to guide runners around the course in the time they needed 🏃♀️
Everyone was in great spirits and there was a lot of chatter about tomorrow's half marathon in town. Best of luck to all attendees today taking on that challenge too! 💪
