On a fresh spring Saturday morning a talented team of five Goodgymers accepted the challenge to help Miss M clear her back garden.

There were four Bristol regulars and our latest recruit; no other than Kevin Nugent the Hackney Centurion. Welcome to the South West Kev!

We met on Lemon Lane (not just a great name but also the home of the first woman doctor, Elizabeth Blackwell 1821-1910) and made our way to Miss M's house. She showed us the tools that the wonderful guys at Knightstone Housing had left and then led us to the garden. It was obvious that it had not been cleared for quite some time and needed some GLC (Goodgym Loving Care, not Goldie Looking Chain the Newport rap act!) .

For three hours we chopped, cut, pulled, dug, forked and yanked the unwanted brambles and nettles.

Slowly but surely it was all becoming clear, not just the garden but also the sky. As if to show its appreciation, the sun began to shine brighter the more work we did.

Ben had to leave us partway through as he had to go to work (slacker!) but he had already put in a great shift and cleared a lot of the brambles and weird brown stick bush things (it's a technical term).

After the above ground plantage was cut back we set about tearing up as many roots as we could to prevent it all growing back again.
As the photos show we smashed it and the garden looks a lot better for a bit of GLC. Thanks to everyone who came down, we can be very proud of the great work we have done.

Great report writing Gary, especially loving the punnery. That was a satisfying first foray into GG Bristol - what a difference we made!
