We didn’t like leafing whilst it was cold and dark, so we had to head to SEARCH(for)LIGHT

Before you get swept away with reading Rob's epic run report, here's the context: we were off to Kingston Mencap's Searchlight Centre to help with sweeping up the leaves in their garden and car park. Now, get enjoying a game of "spot the pun"...

On a dark, but mild October evening, 7 good folk met in Kingston, all dressed in red. With our illustrious leader sunning himself in Malta, no doubt tucking into a good book like Me(i)n ca(m)p(f), it was left to GoodGyms leading lady, Samia, aka Sammy the centurion, to brief us/warn us not to trip up and injure ourselves on route, or dangerously swing tools around, at the task. The warm up was carried out in her own way and unique fashion, with a pre-run team photo to finish it off, that will surely be number 1 this week, despite the lack of animals or Dave (yes, there were some injured egos having last week's group task photo beaten by a dog for photo of the week... but it was a very cute and fluffy dog!).

Then like the animals on the arc, we set off 2 by 2 by 3, with Toby making sure no-one got leaft behind or turned leaft instead of right at the (search) lights...

However like moths to Toby's shreddies (a reference to "goodies" that Toby had found in his cereal once), we managed to find our way there and set about with the broom and bags gathering the leaves and admiring how caviar-like slugs eggs are.

Aptly enough, Michelle went in search of lights, returning with a pair of floodlights that made leaf-finding so much easier. Puns were demanded and duely given but most just brushed away. Not even the rainbow one was colourful enough. 😢 Although, "we" (Toby) eventually came up with a winner.

A less eventful, but equally as effective jog back, was wrapped up with Samia's top 5 post run stretches and a quick discussion on Martel's glow stick dance and the extent of everyone's Halloween costumes, for next weeks spooky social and the graveyard shift.

Thanks Rob for writing the run report and thank you Toby for backmarking and photo-taking. And credit to Nic for the photo-staging ideas! Great to see so many in the process of getting verified for missions and coach runs.
