Last night we returned to Palmeira Square which we hadn't visited for a while and was in need of a bit of TLC! Our main task was to clear the weeds that had built up all along the pathways, a tricking task that required some good hoeing skills. We welcomed John for his first ever task and he got stuck straight into the weeds and made light work of a long path. We were also joined by Sherman who was completing is 100th task! Sherman joined us all the way from Honk Kong not long after we started in Brighton and has been a regular ever since, most notable for his excellent photography despite his often sweaty subjects! A big milestone that takes a lot of commitment to reach, so well done Sherman look forward to seeing your wings soon! That commitment seemed to inspire some of the local residents who joined in clearing the paths, most notably a couple of very friendly Robins, although I think their motivation was more related to their stomachs. We each took up different areas of the square and by the end had a made a huge change to the paths and finished off with some litter picking here and there to bring some order back to the square. We will be heading back their next week to continue the improvements!

To strengthen our community through the gardens, with each volunteer and every event. One blue bag at a time

Palmeria and Adelaide Garden Fund is a Community Intrest Company created in 2019 and established in 2020 as Palmeira and Adelaide Garden Group CIC. We started off as two concerned garden-loving local residents, and in just two years, our board is now nine-strong. We are a small group of dedicated residents who live in and around Palmeira Square and Adelaide Crescent with significant volunteer support. We started to raise funds to help with the maintenance of our green spaces and bring the community together through regular cleanups, gardening and events.
