Check out those before and after photos! We love making a difference and this one felt pretty good.

Aimee and I were back at Kenton Park this morning both a bit late after a glorious sunny start at parkrun. Following the creation of a rocky flower bed near the entrance to the park at our last ROCKY task here, we were back with Mike and Maddie from Urban Green Newcastle to do some planting.

"I always manage to get the Urban Green glory tasks!"

Mike and Maddie had already started when we arrived and had collected five big bags of rubbish from the park, so it was straight into digging and preparing the ground for planting. Mike and Maddie created a plan of where everything should go and we got cracking.

We had some great discussion today about what connects us to where we live and the power of planting things we can come back and see again, as well as some plant lessons from Mike and Maddie while we worked.

Soon the job was done and Aimee got the added glory of scattering some extra seeds before we left. We were invited by the cafe manager at Kenton Leisure centre for free coffee and tea as a thank you before we left, which we enjoyed in the glorious spring sunshine.

The perfect morning alternative to a lie in!
