Thank you to GG Lewisham who joined forces with GG Southwark to complete this community mission. We were tasked with moving some large planters to the outdoor garden so that the care home residents could access and enjoy them more easily. We had envisaged emptying the planters, transported the planters and soil separately and then re-filling everything. However, it turned out that we were quite a strong bunch and were able to carry the full planters through the care home, much to task owner Andrea’s amazement. This was followed by some aesthetic re-arranging of plant pots before re-joining the Lewisham group.

Gardening and art project at Rose Court Care Home, Lower Road, Rotherhithe, SE8 5DN
We need strong volunteers to help us empty two large, free-standing wooden planters of their compost, move them to another location and fill them up again.

I work with Art in the Park (www.artinthepark.co.uk / @artinburgesspark) and I am starting a gardening/art project with Rose Care care home residents in August. We need the planters moved to a more suitable location in the back garden where more residents will be able to access them safely. Rose Court has 66 residents, of which many are very elderly, frail and have dementia.
