Report written by Linda Sharman
It was one of those missions where we started off with 5 sign ups and ended up just the two of us. Thankfully Jem turned up, on time, full of smiles and enthusiasm.
We were given instructions to plant trees "in the wild side near the redcurrant bush". As the whole thing looks pretty wild and neither of us knew what a redcurrant bush looks like we plumped for the overgrown area near the only bush we could see.
Extracting the trees from the shed was tricky as they were growing through the roof of the shed. Jem managed to negotiate the many obstacles in the shed to obtain a couple of decent spades and off we went.
At first the ground seemed so hard we didn't think we would be able to plant one tree but as we persevered our technique improved and before we knew it four beautiful fruit trees had found new homes. We went a little bit overtime to ensure they were properly watered in and to surround the bottom of the trunk in bark chips.
All in all a pleasant afternoon in the sunshine with good company.
