Report written by Amy Foster
On another beautiful, balmy evening in Hackney, Clair, Even, Deirdre, John and I met at Hackney Wick community garden. Julia at HW had us fishing water out of the canal in pails on strings - a technique that took some time to master and at one point resulted in Even getting a dousing of canal water as he retrieved an escapee bucket....!
The garden has blossomed in recent times and there was tons of fruit and veg to water including pumpkins, tomatoes, corn, spinach, kale, juicy plums, and okra, as well as replenishing the water butts. Once we had whizzed through the watering, Julia gave us all spinach, kale, rosemary and sage to take home. Clair got a bonus free gift with hers (see pic).
As we strolled back along the canal, we saw Agnieska from the Bakehouse, fishing. Ah the good ole Bakehouse days! We all agreed, though ,that community missions are playing a big part in our wellbeing, having positive activities to do and the social element, as many of us are working at home still. At which point, someone uttered the magic word "Pub?"......
