14 dedicated GoodGymers ignored the heat, (and the invites to the pub to watch the footie), and ball together followed Golden Balls Barun out along the gorgeous sunlit Thames Footpath to the YMCA Hawkers CentreYMCA Hawkers Centre.

There was definitely a sporting theme for tonight’s mission with the cleaning of the Wimbledon coloured plastic chairs on the patio and the removal and disinfecting of hundreds of balls in the children’s ball-pit.

At first it definitely felt more fun than fitness, as we jumped into the children’s ball pit, however as the bags of balls filled up, the pile felt never ending. We dragged in reinforcements from the patio team and quickly formed a factory line of removers, disinfectors and polishers. With our forces combined we made quick work of it, avoiding extra time and amazing the team from the YMCA who thought this was a challenge too far!

We ended the mission with seconds to spare with all balls back in the net, cleaned and ready for the next jungle(good)gym session.

And we did it all before the first goal was scored!

As we ran back along the Thames we were amazed by the enthusiasm and support of the crowds in the pubs who cheered us as we ran by and we got our quickest return trip yet! At least we thought they were cheering for us or was there some other sporting event going on tonight.

Welcome to Kate, Laura and Ally on their first Kingston run.
