On a possibly sunny Saturday in early June, Hils, Gman and Roro went to the Excel for their final shift before it closed as a vaccine centre and reopened for its more traditional events. After several months of volunteering with Barts Health at the Excel, along with many other Goodgymers, we will miss what became a weekly walk down the Greenway and back for our shifts. Fond memories of the Excel include many sandwiches, a few donuts, some REDACTED incidents, the various pod loading techniques, getting to know the other volunteers, the team leaders, clinical staff and security, and helping countless members of the public successfully navigate the Excel to receive their vaccines! The Barts Health vaccine centre now moves to Westfield Stratford - “The Street”, which we’re all looking forward to supporting, especially if the long awaited flash mob/dance finally becomes a reality… watch this space
