Another day, another essential Asda shopping trip for John. A neatly written list and money was waiting, when I arrived at John’s front door, and after an interesting chat about the great outdoors, trees, wildlife and flowers, I set off on my bike.

For the first time, I had to queue outside the shop, as an assistant carefully counted customers as they left the store. Once inside, however, it was clear that most shoppers were now ignoring social distancing and the very clearly marked one-way system...

After a couple of unsuccessful rounds of the cooked meat aisles looking for items on John’s list, where I could see only empty shelves, I finally asked an assistant for help...to be told there was no cooked meat available, as a worker at the distribution centre had developed possible COVID symptoms, and so distribution had been halted.

As I was on my road bike, so no panniers, I again, had to walk up to John’s with the shopping bags on my handlebars. A little extra exercise to start the day.

John was pleased to receive his shopping, and to have a chat about his latest modelling project.

Another successful trip and a fast ride home.
