Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
Notwithstanding the miserable weather, 3 Goodgymmers wrapped up warm & dry and made their way down to the allotment of the Greenhouse Project, by the Single Homeless Project. As per standing GG Redbridge tradition, the weather did easy off by the time the team made their way over, from a downpour to a drizzle.
Arriving a little early, Sarah Jane helped me clear some stubborn brambles from the footpath, making it easier for pedestrians to get past. Some of them even stopped and expressed their thanks! Downside here was that a snail lost his way in his bramble exploring adventure.
Task owner Lorene unfortunately couldn't make it down today, but had provided Linda with a spare key, so as soon as Linda arrived we got stuck into the tasks at hand.
Luckily for me Linda & Sarah-Jane got stuck into weeding & clearing around the shed, saving me from the ongoing puzzle to try and determine what is seen as a plant and what is a weed. Instead I was allowed to play with some nails & screws in an attempt to adjust shed door & lock plus fix the gutter in place. There was also a little time left to check on the size of screws & bits best suited to work on the greenhouse next time.
Thanks to Sarah-Jane for the pictures - a great eye for little details like the snail and the fungi
P.S... mental note for next time - bring biccies to go with the tea!
This is a London-wide charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives. They do this by providing support and accommodation, promoting wellbeing, enhancing opportunity, and being a voice for change.
