5 Goodgymers took like ducks to water helping the 2nd Warwick Sea Scouts with a spring clean of their boathouse.

Other volunteers had been helping all day, so by the time we arrived lots of the cleaning tasks were already completed. Amy and Katherine started with putting back all the Kayaks that had been taken out to clean whilst Laura and Lil helped with the big sort getting rid of lots of old paperwork and random items that had accumulated in the boathouse over many years.

We had to overcome our hoarding tendencies and be really ruthless with getting rid of things that were no longer required now that lots of admin has gone online. Once boxes were full, we then carried them downstairs to be added to the rubbish pile in the compound ready to be disposed of.

It was then a case of moving some tables into a back room which will now be used as a changing room. This room required a good clean including lots of cobwebs being vacuumed up and removing some shelves that were at perfect eye poking height to avoid any future accidents now that the room will be used by kids frequently.

All the clearing, cleaning and tidying meant that there was now a huge area in the main upstairs room that enabled Nigel to put his skills to work creating a new changing room out of some old tent poles. Sounds impossible, but a real production line was set up by some of the volunteers and 2 hours later, the frame for a changing room was in position!

It was great to learn a bit more about this organisation and we hope to be back again very soon to help with future tasks.
