Forest Court is a beautiful community garden for disabled and elderly residents of the block of flats next door. A lot of work has gone into it over the winter, but there's still a lot to do! They will be building a new patio area with a fire pit and seating for the residents, and planting several vegetable patches.

My first job was to move a big pile of bricks which were making it difficult for residents in wheelchairs to get into the garden. I've uploaded a picture of the finished product with my canine assistant for the day! The wall in the picture will eventually gave a mural (if anybody knows an artist please let me know)!

My second job was clearing bramble roots and raking the earth on a disused patch of dirt. When it's cleared, they hope to plant strawberries and other fruits. I've uploaded some pictures of after and before.

Meanwhile some volunteers from the People's Army were clearing the patch for the new patio, and another area for vegetables.

Our lovely host also served homemade spicy carrot soup and bread (from a local Turkish shop) at lunch time. It was delicious and very welcome after all the heavy lifting!

We made a lot of progress today but there's still a lot to do - they'd be very grateful for more volunteers for the next session on Friday.
