Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by York runner
No less than nine GG Sheffs rocked up to Barnsley tonight to join us (and a rogue GG Yorkie) as we continued our challenge to paint the big room at the Worsborough Common Community Centre.
All this GoodGym touring has been inspired by the mostly healthy competition of the January Challenge! Either way, with some great numbers for Barnsley, it was a chance to get plenty of decorating done.
After a quick warm up, and a one mile run up the hill, we set straight to work. With so many people, we ran out of paintbrushes and had to send someone off to look through the cupboards for extras - but it wasn't long before everyone was armed with a paintbrush, roller or masking tape.
Every time we enter this room, there seems to be one extra and slightly precarious ladder. Tonight was no different, Caroline and Finn fearlessly took on the latest wobbly ladder in the safest possible manner.
Kat had turned up slightly late and missed the briefing about dark and light paint, as she cracked on painting one of the walls the wrong colour - luckily someone else noticed pretty quickly!
With the room almost finished, time was up and we decided we'll need one more visit to finish the job. After a classic lunging group photo - it was time for some fitness: a HIIT matrix with:
I could tell by Stephen's face that he loved it the most of any fitness session, ever.
We left the community centre to find snow on the ground and had a tentative run back down the hill to avoid anybody slipping over. Nobody did, phew!
Don't forget it's our starter session this Saturday at midday - grab some friends and bring them along to Dearne Valley Country Park - see you then.
