We used to think that we loved running, but tonight we weren’t sure,
And we couldn’t wait to do lunges right close to the floor.
But when we got to the hat fact’ry, right into the town,
The sun was still baking, so hot it was making us frown.
☀️
We’re walking in sunshine, 🚶🏽♂️woah,
Some running in sunshine, 🏃♂️woah,
And cycling in sunshine, 🚴woah,
And don’t it feel good?
☀️
We met with our new guys, and set off for something to do.
The runners were keen to get started but slowed down it’s true.
FC 61wanted us back for some painting
Come back any day, oh yeah yeah,
And once we had got there we happily painted away.
☀️
Woah yeah!
☀️
We’re painting in sunshine, woah,
A GoodGym team of nine, woah,
We’re starting to feel fine, woah,
And aren’t the posts good!
☀️
We did arrive, with lots of drive, the posts revived, that’s really real
We all did strive, snacks helped us thrive, we all survived, that’s really real.
☀️
Walked back without sunshine, woah,
We all had a good time, woah,
We’re cool now and won’t whine, woah,
☀️
And don’t we feel good?
😀

It's Tuesday night so it must be FoodCycle for some of the regulars in GoodGym who enjoy teaming up with the other FoodCycle volunteers to help ensure the smooth running of the community meal.
This evening was no different.
Gill started the session early with a trip to Sainsburys to pick up a mountain of food surplus. After unlocking the church and doing the usual checks, she then unloaded the crates of food and got them all weighed and sorted before the others arrived. The kitchen team, joined by Martin and Gill were soon busy peeling, chopping and prepping another delicious three course meal. Ruth and Abdo arrived to set up the hall: setting out tables, filling the urn, putting out the cloths and cutlery and making sure everything was ready to greet the guests. And of course Abdo was on hand to ensure the menu was written up and suitably decorated. Mehdi had also arrived to help and joined us later for the meal. They were then kept busy serving the guests and washing up afterwards.
It's hard work, but good fun and fabulous team work. FoodCycle are very appreciative of all the help GoodGym provides. They couldn't do it without us. Well done all.

This week's group run/walk had two tasks. Runners were sent off to take on the long distance task, painting the hand rail at Holy Trinity church. Walkers took a more sedate journey to the Riverside meadow, hunting for invasive plant species.
Runners were met by William at the church who got the team set up with paint and brushes. Before too long the hand rail leading up to the church was green and so were many of the painters fingers!
Meanwhile over at the Riverside meadow, the efforts of previous years in pulling out the invasive canadian Goldenrod plants had paid off hugely, there was hardly any to be seen, native plants had regained their territory here. After a bit of hunting some young shoots of Goldenrod were found springing up from the roots left behind after a pulling session a few weeks ago. These were pulled up to stop them taking hold again and then a couple of small patches of tall goldenrod about to flower were spotted in the long grass.
Checking further along the river a lone stem of Himalayan Balsam was found and removed before it went to seed.
Calling victory in the battle for native wildlife and painting railings, we all headed off home quickly to catch the second half of England's Victory over the Netherlands 😄🏴⚽🥅🇳🇱🥲
