A fairy good litter pick

Slough Report written by Manjit Birk

Wow! whatever happened at Salt Hill Park last night! It looked like Slough's very own Glasto without the top notch musicians!

When we arrived to do junior parkrun this morning we knew we had to put on our super hero capes and clear the park off the hazards before the kids could do their event.

Luckily I keep all the litter pickers and bin bags in my car so whilst the briefing was going on, the team got to work and cleared the start and finish lines off litter.

Thundered at 800

Chuffed to get my 800th good deed today. With fairy liquid, plastic bottles, wet wipes, fish and chips, beer cans as the main hord of litter, I'm pleased my 800th was an environmental clean up task

Rain stopped play

Slough Report written by Manjit Birk

It's July! yet we battled with a heavy heavy downpour this evening just as Jean and I were driving to our meet up point.

We were discussing if we were going to walk or run the 1.5km to the task when suddenly out of nowhere the sky turned grey and it started pletting it down!

With messages rolling in from the rest of the team who had signed up asking if we were aborting!

Abort abort abort!

We turned to plan B which was for Jean and I to drive to the allotments and wait for a break in the weather and hopefully get a bit of the task done...

Plan C it is

With no break in the weather... we resulted in having a lovely chatty catchup before calling it a day! Plan D is to reschedule for another day!

Fayre today… gone tomorrow

Slough Report written by Manjit Birk

This was our first time on helping the Langley Carnival Fayre with their annual fayre.

The team did a great job on helping with various tasks.

Here is a lovely message from organiser Liz

Many thanks to all your helpers yesterday. Jen turned up about 4pm and collected rubbish for us and helped clear up . I had a special thanks from Linda and Shirley for Urmila helping them set up. Lee stayed on the gate most of the day and really enjoyed it . His sister came and helped . Abdul turned up but Shahid nicked him for SCVS ,but that was fine as we didn't need him at that point !

Well done to you all

Warm welcome to Mr. on his first task with us.

Urmila did a great job on her 2nd task with us.

Abdulaziz well done on helping Slough CVS team out and Jen great decant and clear up job!
