What happens when three brilliant community groups join forces? Magic - and a much tidier Lakenham Way!
As well as this, Task Force member Rebecca completed her 200th Good Deed what a hero!!
Today, four energetic GoodGym members teamed up with Wild Lakenham and the Lakenham & Town Close Green Spaces group for a scrub-clearing mission on the railway sidings at the bottom of Lakenham Way - that lovely traffic-free route into Norwich city centre.
The plan: Meet at 10. Get stuck in. The result: By midday, the transformation was incredible!
Trees and shrubs? Gone. Bramble roots? Dug out. Bushes? Cut right down. The bank? Trimmed to perfection (thanks to Roger the Scyther and those trusty hand shears!).
And that’s not all - the team collected heaps of rubbish revealed after recent cutbacks. Among the cans, bottles and crisp packets were some surprises… a tractor and a pregnancy test! (Yes, really.)
This collaboration is extra special because Wild Lakenham owes its very beginnings to GoodGym’s support and networking. Rob played a key role - even giving us our name! So, from everyone at Wild Lakenham: a huge thank you to GoodGym for helping us grow and thrive.
Here’s to more joint adventures and greener spaces for Norwich!

Today 12 GoodGymers ran or cycled to support conservation work at Mousehold Heath.
We met Will at St James Hill on Britannia Road, an area of natural habitat for a rich variety of wildlife including Common Whitethroat - the only place in Norwich this species can be found.
We went to an overgrown area that had grown so high it obscured one of the finest views in the city.
Armed with loppers and saws, we spent an hour cutting everything back and carrying the long branches to a clearing below. It was amazing to see the results after we finished! Now anyone wanting to sit on the bench could see right across the entire city.
Shout Out to Alice who attended her first session.
High Five's for Eloise who completed her 50th Good Deed!

I marshalled at Eaton Junior Parkrun. We had a few first timers and some youngsters getting wristbands for their achievements .

9 GoodGymer's turned out for a great morning at Mousehold Heath.
Cutting back Common Gorse, which is an invasive species and has been strangling the heather that grows on the heath. The Heather is a great pollinator and is essential to bees and insects thriving.
The team removed lots of Gorse, with the aid of Will’s big protective gloves and long reaching loppers. After it was removed it was laid on drag mats and taken to a big hole not far away where it can mulch down.
Everyone was in great spirits and could see a massive impact for the hours work that it took of lopping and dragging.
We will be back again in a few weeks for another task in Mousehold.

I marshalled at Eaton Junior Parkrun. There were still a good number of runners despite it being Run Norwich day, which might have preoccupied some parents from running families.

I had some problems with the website, and so this task has ended up on here twice.
