Turning over some old leaves

Monday 29th November 2021

Written by JP

An absolutely baltic evening in Whitton saw 5 hardy GGers get together for our regular leaf sweep at the Youth Zone.

We got stuck in and filled plenty of the green sacks on hand, while knowing that there would be just as many leaves to sweep next time... we do love a never ending task!

Well done to the brave souls who ran down the A316 and back again - not a night for fair-weather runners!

At our W(h)it(ton)s end...

Monday 25th October 2021

Written by JP

It was the return of dark Monday evening missions as 7 hardy GGers made their way to Whitton Youth Zone for the regular garden tidy. Tonight featured shears, rakes, forks and brooms as we tidied the pathway alongside the building and then spent some time in the back area for some bonus points, stopping to admire the new orb-like water feature that has arrived since most of us were last there. Lots of good chat, not least about far less appropriate puns than the above for the run report, and planning of bike rides to come soon...

Weed like to think t'was a sweeping success

Monday 20th September 2021

Written by Sal Wardeh

Victoria and Salwa rolled up to Whitton Youth Zone on this balmy September evening and after being briefed on the task at hand, they got stuck in doing a spot of weeding and sweeping. Sal was on the pull and managed to get most of the weeds out, while Vic did a brooming marvellous job sweeping up the area. After an hour of chatting while they worked, the job was done and the sun was gone. It was whitton in the stars on this clear night that they will be back again to lend a (gloved) hand to this wonderful community centre that does such good work.

When life throws you a rainy day, play in the puddles. Pooh Bear

Monday 24th May 2021

Written by Rebecca Bissell

Anita and I took Pooh Bears advice and braved it out at the Whitton Youth Zone to tidy up the front garden which was in need of weeding after all the recent rain. Mandy at the Youth Zine has invested in a great collection of new gardening tools and implements, so looking forward to getting back there to tackle the rest of the garden in nicer weather.

Getting to the root of it

Monday 26th April 2021

Written by Richmond runner

This was our first time back at Whitton Youth Zone after quite a few months and boy, were there loads of new weeds that had taken resident again!

4 Good Gymers went straight for them, clearing the area which will have a new water feature installed this week! We also had help from a little feathery robin also showing off its red (GoodGym) colours.

We covered good ground and the robin cleared all the worms. Next time, it will be great to see how the water feature will look like in the new space.

Weeding, sweeping and leafing

Monday 19th October 2020

Written by Teresa Gebski

A few of us ran into each other en route to the mission which made the uninteresting A316 road run to the task a bit more interesting. When we arrived we got straight to it attacking the weeds, sweeping the pavement and the leaves to freshen up the outside area. Once we’d completed our work we bid the task owner farewell and set off running back to where we came from.
