Have your elf a merry Christmas!

Friday 19th December

Written by Sophie Cuff

Two GoodGymers Harry and Sophie, attended today’s session, helping Westbourne rotary’s Santa’s grotto. (Congratulations Harry for completing your tenth good deed!) We got dressed up in festive attire to greet the children of Boscombe who were all very excited to see Santa! This was a very fun session, meeting approximately 17 families, which was classed as a ‘Slow’ day! The rotary were very thankful for our support today!

Ho ho ho so slow

Monday 15th December

Written by Bournemouth runner

Three Goodgymmers, Daryl, Keith and Lea, had another lovely time walking along Santa's sleigh. Well, the beginning was certainly lovely, but whether there were so many more children to talk to Santa or people coming out to greet Santa, it certainly wasn't the fastest route! But whether slow or fast: the shining eyes of all the kiddies makes it all worthwhile. And going by the weight of the buckets.... another successful night, for sure. And the weather gods were once again smiling down on us.

Pennies and pounding the streets

Thursday 11th December

Written by Bournemouth runner

Another Santa night… two Goodgymmers, Keith and Lea, nicely lit up with bright lights, followed Santa’s Sleigh around Iford tonight. Buckets got filled with pennies and pounds, while our feet were pounding along the streets especially when Santa decided to speed up the sleigh on the return journey!

Santa out of power

Monday 8th December

Written by Bournemouth runner

One Goodgymmer, Lea, and a friend joined the Westbourne Rotary again for another sleigh ride with Santa. Well, Santa on the sleigh but his helpers walking around it… 13.000+ steps! Towards the end not only the elves were running out of power, (only a bit), Santa’s music ran out of power (completely) and part of Boscombe ran out of power (eerily so!). But the lovely exited faces were still lighting up brightly at seeing Santa! And us elves were still brightly holding on to buckets that were getting heavier all the time!

Beau-ing and ho-ho-ho-ing

Thursday 4th December

Written by Bournemouth runner

Four Goodgymmers, Emma, Sophie, Keith snd Lea, joined the Westbourne Rotary for their longest sleigh route (Beaufort Road and surroundings)… After a bit of a slow start we did see more and more people. And yay, giving generously, making our buckets feel nice and heavy. Keith’s ears are ringing as much as his bell was and the Christmas “music” will still be in our heads tonight. But we did a great job. Thank you for turning up and helping Santa!! BTW that Santa on his cool motorbike… not sure if we could have kept up with such a speedster!

Ho-ho-ho-ing again

Monday 1st December

Written by Bournemouth runner

Three Goodgymmers, Daryl, Keith and Lea, turned into Santa's helpers to collect money for Westbourne Rotary. And did we collect money indeed...... plenty of coins, plenty of notes and plenty of thank yous. And best of all: the bright sparkling eyes of all the kiddies seeing Santa! Looking forward to the rest of the sessions!
