Weeding the Wee Wood

Tuesday 23rd July

Written by Saul Muldoon

The sun shone and we shifted hundreds of thistles from Huddersfield's Tiny Forest last night. It was nice to have a guest visit from firmer Huddersfield GoodGymmer David Bilton who showed he had not lost his touch for doing good.

Thanks to the entire team of Kati Law, Ben Godfrey, Louise Galvin, Wendy Redmile, Graham Browning, David and Pam for their thistle pulling efforts.

We nuked a few thistles tonight at Huddersfield's Tiny Forest. We made a difference but there are still plenty more to deal with on future visits.

Well done and thanks to Kati Law and Wendy Redmile, and special thanks to Imogen our little helper.

All Hail GoodGym!

Tuesday 16th April

Written by Saul Muldoon

Sun, rain and jolly big hailstones, we had it all at GoodGym tonight. But the slightly inclement conditions didn't stop us weeding and spreading loads of woodchip in the Tiny Forest.

Thanks to Kati Law, Ben Godfrey, Graham Browning and Emma for their efforts this evening.

Scien-triffic

Tuesday 29th August 2023

Written by Saul Muldoon

Under the guidance of the guys from Tiny Forest, along with Gill and Charlotte from Kirklees Council, Louise Galvin and I did some "Citizen Science" in our Tiny Forest this evening.

We measured trees and counted invertebrates and recorded the results on the Tiny Forest app, contributing to the body of data being used to ascertain the contribution these little urban plantations make to the environment. Oh, and we also did some more nettle weeding too!

Great fun, we're looking forward to doing it again next week!
