Tonight we made a library! S2R had a commission to build a local book exchange/library, so called GoodGym in to help.
Under the supervision of Byron from S2R we measured, sawed and drilled creating a very passable little library. It may take a little finishing off next week, but its well on the way.
Thanks to tonight's runners and carpenters, Kati Law, Ben Godfrey and Wendy Redmile.

A Saturday morning spent with Golcar Environment Group clearing one of their many ginnels, gave us some welcome exercise. Shifting and bagging soil left the site ready for gravelling, which would make the ginnel look a lot better and be less prone to weeds.
Thanks as always for the efforts of GoodGym faithfuls Kati Law and Ben Godfrey.

We were doing some housework at Hillhouse tonight, cleaning up the playing field there. About 12 months ago we did a big blitz on the playing field removing a huge amount of fly tipping and general litter.
Somewhat encouragingly the rubbish had not returned in such large volumes over the last year, although Kati Law, Ben Godfrey and still spent an hour in the rain tonight to keep the field tidy and safe for the local kids to use safely.

Tonight we found a dinosaur on our GoodGym job. I'm posting a picture of said dinosaur as that was probably the least scary fly-tipped item we removed from the park on the Rawthorpe estate tonight.
Broken garden furniture, kids toys, an oven, numerous plant pots and copious litter were all included in the monstrous amount of rubbish we shifted in about an hour.
I always feel better for having done one of these jobs as the park looks much better so I know our efforts have made a difference. But at the same time I feel sad that people ate so irresponsible and inconsiderate to literally sling their unwanted items over their garden fence onto the park/playing field area beyond.
Thanks to Sharon from Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing and local resident Simba who joined us for the job, and of course GoodGymmers Kati Lawand Ben Godfrey for their stirling efforts as ever.

Due to a lack of leaflets we had a quick change of task tonight. So instead of flyering Fixby, tonights task was a litter blitz of Bradford Road.
However of far more significance was the fact that Huddersfield GoodGymmer Wendy Redmile generously donated tools, including secateurs, a pruning saw and a rechargeable worklight to our group this evening. The tools will be incredibly useful for our future tasks.
Wendy who is undergoing chemotherapy, has recently completed a challenge to wear a different hat each day for over 100 days, raising over £1000 in the process. The funds were used to support various local good causes, which included the new GoodGym tools. Thank you so much Wendy they will certainly get put to good use.
In addition to Wendy, tonights top taskers were Kati Law, Ben Godfrey, Louise Galvin and myself. Good effort guys!
