Clocking in for junior parkrun

Sunday 19th April

Written by Cecilia D🍀

Clocking in for the first time, one GoodGymer was on time today—literally.

It was planned: a more-than-5k run to Lesnes Abbey Woods junior parkrun to help as one of the two timekeepers. Because sometimes, it’s about giving it a try.

Set in a cracking location, the event welcomed 61 bouncy young runners - feet flying, smiles wide, and determination in every stride. Some with support from their mums and dads.

Three superstars hit parkrun milestones today, hooray! And from first finisher to final finisher, it was a run full of heart, effort, and a fair bit of woodland magic.

Volunteering like this is a powerful reminder that supporting the community is about giving a little of your time, stepping into a new role, and helping others shine.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, take this as your sign - there’s always someone to guide you, and a whole community waiting to welcome you.

Abbey Easter 🐰

Sunday 5th April

Written by Sarah W

This morning we hopped along to marshal and scan barcodes at Lesnes Abbey Woods junior parkrun.

The kids were eggs-cited to get their high-fives and the parents got their eggs-ercise running round the three laps with them.

And as always there was a happy vibe with the other hi-viz volunteers.

Afterwards, an eggs-cellent coffee from the Chestnuts Kiosk!

See you next week when there will be no more Easter puns, we promise.

High fives and good vibes at junior parkrun

Sunday 1st March

Written by Sarah W

With spring in the air and blossoms appearing on the trees, there was a wonderful atmosphere at today’s junior parkrun at Lesnes Abbey Woods.

The children's enthusiasm was equally high, resulting in the highest turnout in recent times with 47 finishers.

Manish was one of the marshals, cheering everyone round the course.

Fresh air, high fives and good vibes - not a bad way to start your Sunday morning.

Why not come and join us?

Helping to keep things running

Sunday 1st February

Written by Sarah W

Four of us helping at Lesnes Abbey Wood junior parkrun this morning.

Kam and Johnny were high-fiving runners, I gave out finishing tokens and Manish helped with breakdown after running with his son.

Kam headed home, while the three of us hooked up with the Friends of Lesnes Abbey and Woods for their monthly conservation session 🌳🌳🌳.
