A concerted effort

Saturday 18th November 2023

Written by Julie

Mark and I arrived and thought that our job was done as the staging was out already! But it turned out it had been put up incorrectly, so the first job was to dismantle the staging and put it back in place with the right tiers so the audience could see the choir. We moved the alter out of the way to make space for the orchestra, and finally set out all the chairs. With that the stage was set, and after Julie's second task of the day it was straight out for a well deserved lunch.

The stage is set

Saturday 19th November 2022

Written by Rob Haworth

Normally this report would be full of muscical puns, but this composer is widely known to be tone deaf, so the pitch maybe a bit off. With a large contingent from Kingston Coral Society and a duet of Goodgymers the stage and chairs went up, an octave, in record timing.

Musical Chairs at St Marks church

Saturday 25th June 2022

Written by Jassy Drakulic

Jane, Sabri, Rachel & Jassy pitched in to prepare St Marks church hall for the Kingston Choral concert. Firstly the staging needed putting together, requiring brains and brawn to heft the pieces into place and decipher the notation of the various parts. Once complete, it ascended like a major scale to host the choir at different levels. Next we 'transposed' chairs from the front to the back of the hall and placed the grand piano in the space created. We finished up filling the stage with seats for the choir, as music isn't complete without some well-timed rests. Our thanks to the task owners who were friendly and a pleasure to assist. Hopefully the performance went well!
