Frequent Flyer

Monday 15th May 2023

A small but mighty group of GG-ers gathered at Glass Mill to tackle not 1 but 2 lots of flyering for different events going on in the borough: Brockley Max Festival and Give A Song.

We split into groups, one at Ladywell, one at Brockley and the other running around finding various streets that are having street music party’s.

It wasn’t long before our team in Ladywell had finished handing out flyers to commuters getting off the train after a hard days work so we packed up in Brockley and made our way back to Ladywell.

A slight detour on the way back to tackle one last street for Give A Song and then we all regrouped at Glass Mill.

Thanks to Steve for meeting earlier for some pre-GG GG-ing to flyer a couple of streets over in Crofton Park.

It’s been a lot of flyering recently but that’s it now! Next week we’re heading to Luxmore Gardens, a shorter run of around 3km followed by pizza and/or pasta at Bella Roma.

The Big Help Out: Downham to Business

Monday 8th May 2023

Written by Kim Parker

It was meant to be a 2 tasks week but due to the last minute dramatic reduction in sign ups, it turned out to be a 1 task week and we all tackled the longer run to Catford to flyer for the Downham Door Knock!

The Downham Door Knock is happening on Tuesday 16th May and is all about having open conversations with residents in the area. The aim is to meet isolated adults, link people with groups and services, raise the profile of Downham and Improve knowledge of the area to help plan activities and make funding bids.

We split into groups to tackle the streets and in pairs they streets were ticked off! There was only half a street left when disaster struck and we couldn't find one of the team. This being a regular occurrence at flyering tasks (I'm looking at you Miguel and Adam...), I sent pairs off in different directions with the instructions to meet back at Goldsmith's Community Centre. Oli managed to find Laura and we all regrouped at the Community Centre.

Time to say our goodbyes to Michael from Community Connections, who was very glad he didn't need to flyer 1000 houses on his own! And back to Glass Mill only 5 minutes later than planned.

Next week, we're handing out programmes for Brockley Max at various stations across the borough and also delivering some flyers for Give A Song.

P.S. Technical issues mean I'm unable to upload photos!

Only true angels can fly(er)

Monday 1st May 2023

First up, huge cheers for everyone as you tackled a much longer run than I planned for and we’re still mostly smiling by the end of it 👏

The task was a brand new task and involved us running here, there and everywhere across the borough delivering flyers for the wonderful Give A Song.

The running was long but when we got to the required street, the flyering was short and sweet!

Only our run back towards Lewisham for our final streets, we were treated to a beautiful sunset.

Next week, we’re flyering for Give A Song in Ladywell and then also flyering for another charity in Catford. Have a think if you fancy tackling the longer run again or taking a break with a shorter run.
