Last night we went WEST out of our normal East Oxford/Marston stamping ground. We know there are some litter hot spots on and around the Botley Road, and the challenge is to time our litter picks there when the undergrowth is not too dense but the river isn't in flood.
Our clean up crew divided into 2 teams with one heading towards the grot spots along the river, and the other heading to Oatlands Recreation Ground. Some exceptional litter finds were uncovered, from items of clothing to car registration plates, a fire extinguisher, cuddly emoji star, an Unidentified Netty Object (is it a hammock? Is it a fishing net?), but no papier maché spear this time.
Snacks were had to celebrate Bethan's 21st-and-a-bit birthday, and then we scattered into the night feeling just a little bit smug and virtuous for our clean up efforts.
Lovely to have a GG tourist join us from Southampton tonight. Good to meet you Ellie!

University Parks parkrun turned 2 today!!
A few goodgymers marked the occasion with a run, obeying the triple funnel rules and retiring for coffee and buns afterwards.
Congratulations to Oliver on his very first parkrun and welcome to Goodgym Martin!! We hope to see you again very soon.

Ticking another letter off the parkrun alphabet, 5 Goodgymers went to Evesham for a lovely trot along the river.
Obviously we also had coffee and cake, discussed the glory of Hotel Chocolat velvetisers and eyed the charity shops - one for a separate trip!
Thank you to Anna for the photos and finish line cheering!

Four festive Goodgymers and Poppy the dog had a very pleasant jog around Blenheim Palace park followed by coffee and snacks.
The world was put to rights and occasionally the wind helped us up various slopes!

Now we're in December it was the perfect time for some Christmas decoration spotting, all got off to a festive start with "what's your favourite Christmas song?" as the ice-breaker question.
Of course, we weren't only getting Christmas decoration inspiration/envy, we were also delivering leaflets for The Porch day centre's winter fundraiser. The Porch Day Centre provide day-long support for homeless and vulnerably housed people wanting to move away from street-life. They focus on housing, health, wellbeing, education and employment, providing healthy food, practical help (such as laundry andhot showers), companionship, learning skills, work related skills and opportunities for development. Roger, who had asked is to help get the leaflets delivered, explained to us that they have to raise 85% of their operational costs through grants and individual gifts, and each leaflet delivered is worth around £2 to the centre.
Tonight we delivered over 700 leaflets, and hope that will translate to over £1000 for The Porch.
Congratulations on your 100th Good Deed Henry!
Well done on reaching the 10 Good Deeds milestone Andy:-)
Thank you for the homemade mince pies Matty - they were much appreciated.
