Cheezy like Sunday Morning
A day of Daffodils and Cheese Toasties!
Dig: What a lovely way to spend a couple of hours on Sunday helping wonderful Wood Street Gardeners - we arrived to meet the organisers and got all tools and spring bulbs and heading to community garden and pedestrian/cycling filter area nearby. We weeded the gardening beds, put bulbs in under the great direction of Stavros who's the behind this fantastic group, then cleared up around the beds mulching with leaves the area that we've weeded and then tidied up with a job well done!
Drink & Eat: After we finished we went to Dudley's cafe to warm up with a good cup of tea and a three-cheese toastie as it was lunchtime and cake seemed slightly inappropriate:) We had such a lovely time getting to know each other and sharing cycling tips and recipes!

Food bank and food dump
We had a new member turn up and help out and a returnee along with a someone who hasn't gone to these community missions for a long time. To all, glad you could make it. The good news is we had less than 40 food packages to do, and a lot of people which meant we did most of this within 2 hours. The rest of the time, we spent restocking and unfortunately finding products that have gone out of date, which annoyingly was a lot (100 bags of self raising flour, 125 tins of tomato soup, and some vegetable soup). We found a lot of custard creams went over their best before, which next session people are going to get a lot of biscuits (a future merry Christmas to them).

Wanstead Corner House Project
What a wonderful morning spent helping at the Corner House project. It was great to see the gang from GoodGym there, helping to clear the huge wall of Ivy. We were all given tasks to do, to help the amazing team of women, who have dedicated their own time to help to create a beautiful garden. Looking forward to going back to help next month.

It was a nice sunny morning indeed, ideal for a little session at the Cornerhouse and almost perfect for Pauline's first GG session! (give her a cheer)
The main target was the amount of ivy growing over the top of the wall, with Jan (one of Marians team) going up the ladder while Sharon tackled it from the ground. Pauline & Valerie got stuck in digging over & emptying (leave) composting bins. Blink and over an hour is gone, several compost heaps moved and a mountain of ivy packed into green waste bags and additional huge bag.

Recycle Path
Lovely to see so many signed up for the Valentines Forest Project. James and Padraig had done a fine job cheering on the park runners and Jenny not only ran herself but came back to support Linda in her run finish.
There was much cardboard laying and wood-chip shifting to be done to make biodegradable paths. This was a very satisfying task, as you could really see the difference made in just over an hour. We also got to see some drone photos and videos that the task owner had taken of the site, which was pretty cool.
As you can see by the photos everyone got stuck into the task prompting the below response from the task owner.
"I want to say a massive thank you to the beautiful people who came to help today. We got loads done today. Please pass on our thanks."
Nice one team GGR 👍
