48 parcels packed and delivered tonight; 42 for regular recipients and 6 emergency parcels. That's an all time high for us on a Wednesday evening, but you all took it in your stride and rose to the challenge.
On Random Act of Kindness Day you have made the world a better place for 62 adults plus their children and babies.
Packing parcels, restocking the shelves, unpacking deliveries and donations, dog walks...it was all going on tonight. Thanks for being the best and most helpful team in town!
We're now into our 5th consecutive month of Wednesdays at Oxford Mutual Aid. It's proved to be a valuable partnership for us and provided crucial extra help for Oxford Mutual Aid through this COVID lockdown winter. It has kept us busy and connected with each other, and enabled Oxford Mutual Aid reach more people with deliveries of food and other essentials. Whilst we hope to be able to offer a greater range of tasks soon, we're really pleased to be continuing to support Oxford Mutual Aid in their vital work.
This 6pm task will be delivering food parcels within walking distance of Richard Benson Hall. We will divide into small groups to deliver in different areas. No-one will be asked to deliver on their own. We will stagger your arrival times at the hall, and you will receive an email on Wednesday (around lunchtime) to let you whether to arrive at 6pm or 6:15pm.
Please wear a mask when you arrive at the hall to collect the food parcels and when you drop them off with the recipient.

Tonight we packed 43 parcels of food, cleaning products, toiletries and baby essentials (nappies, baby food, formula). Those parcels will support 61 adults in Oxford and their children, helping them to make it through another difficult week in lockdown. We delivered 31 parcels between us, with others collected by recipients or other OMA volunteers.
We're getting familiar with some of the Wednesday evening regulars now, and some are quite keen to chat. Tonight's feedback was gratitude for the flowers that we included in parcels a couple of weeks ago which serendipitously were delivered just a couple of days before the recipient's birthday, thanks for including lots of corned beef (a favourite), and a query about if we were Olympic athletes (slight disappointment that we're not).
Last week in total Oxford Mutual Aid packaged and delivered 205 regular food parcels, which reached 378 adults, 259 children and 36 babies, plus 51 emergency parcels . Through Kitchen Collective, they made 502 meals, delivering these to a total of 145 households. Taste Tibet, Wadham College and Jam Factory also helped make 370 additional meals this week.
It's great to be involved!
Tonight we packed 44 parcels of food and other essential items for people in our community, and delivered 30 of them. Those parcels helped 61 adults, 5 children, 3 teenagers, and several babies and toddlers, making it easier for the households to cope with the challenges of this pandemic.
As we enter February we tick off our 3rd month of doing Wednesday night packing and deliveries for the Oxford Mutual Aid Food Bank. OMA is the only 7-days-a-week source of food support in Oxford, and works closely with other groups such as Cherwell Larder and Botley Larder to help alleviate food poverty all across the city and surrounding area. It is entirely volunteer run, and the work we do with them is hugely appreciated by the organisers.
To give you an idea of the ever-growing scale of the operation, last week Oxford Mutual Aid packaged and delivered 281 food parcels, which reached (at least) 378 adults, 258 children and 36 babies. Through Kitchen Collective, the cooked meals crew, they also made 425 meals, delivering these to a total of 125 households.
Thank you all for your commitment and enthusiasm for helping on Wednesday evenings, and at other times too. It makes a big difference.
It's all about community and solidarity!
Welcome Amy - great to have you along to your first GoodGym evening!
