Gardening with Newcastle Eagles

Mon 25 Oct 18:00 pm
Newcastle Central Station, Newcastle, NE1 5DL
Tidy up their great outdoor space

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN GLOVES FOR THIS TASK!

Run, walk and volunteer at this monthly group session with Newcastle Eagles. The foundation relies on the support of volunteers to keep their gardens and outdoor spaces clear and tidy, and they have been great supporters of GG Newcastle since the start. We will be gardening and weeding, and there will be jobs for everyone.

There will be an optional fitness session to complete before we run and walk back to the start point.

Meet READY TO RUN outside Central Station where there are public toilets if anyone needs to use them.

You must register in advance for this group run.

Thistle do

Mon 27 Sep
Report written by Anji Andrews

I'm still on my little break from GoodGym while I recover from knee surgery, so I love to hear of the good things that are happening in my absence! I was so pleased to hear this was another Eagles task that made a huge difference.

Paul led a super six tonight as we continue to help keep Newcastle Eagles Community arena car park looking slam-dunk.

It was brilliant to hear Max was back in action tonight after so many efforts at the food bank during lockdown. I hardly recognised him without a mask! Go and give Sarah a massive cheer too, on her first GoodGym Newcastle good deed - hopefully the first of many!

You can see despite the prickles and spikes, the group really made a difference with another area cleared and tidied under a lovely toon sunset.

Thistle start our week off nicely ❤

Sarah has earned their community cape by completing their first community mission. Sat 23 Nov 2019

Sarah completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Sarah was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Sarah has completed their first run in a new area. Sat 23 Nov 2019

Curious? Sarah has just run their first session in another area. For that explorative spirit Sarah is awarded the scout badge. A Scout is trustworthy

An inTRENCH planting session

Sat 23 Nov
Report written by Barnet runner

This morning several brave GoodGymmers travelled from Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Camden and Barnet to help the team at GROW in Totteridge.

In the lovely soggy field and with the rain falling, we had a 4 step process to attack:

  1. Dig a trench
  2. Create a hole for the whip ( a baby hedgerow - always learning with GG)
  3. Plant the whip
  4. Cover with woodchip - a GoodGym classic

After an hour and a half or so later our section of the trench was complete. So we said goodbye to Sarah who leads the project and she said she would love some help from Goodgym in the future, so watch this space as it is such a great project to be involved in.
